CafeMedia is hiring a full-time Parenting reporter for Cafemom, an honest, funny and affirming site for moms.
CafeMom connects millennial moms to the conversations their peers are having and gives them a much-needed break with content that entertains, informs and sustains. The parenting reporter will surface, report and write viral parenting stories with a strong news or emotional hook. The parenting reporter will also cover the pregnancy beat (visually arresting birth stories, maternity photo shoots, maternity trends and styles, pregnancy health news) and the parenting products market (baby gear, toys, back-to-school products, etc.)
Applicants should have previous digital writing experience and be able to spin amazing finds into an article, slideshow, video or FB Live.
Pitch and write 3-5 posts per day
Mine social media for bubbling trends and stories
Utilize analytics to guide pitches, develop beats and grow traffic
Call in samples for video and photo reviews
Appear in our videos and live streams
1-2 years experience writing for the internet
A clear and authentic voice
Good self-editing skills
Opinions on what makes a good headline
A strong sense for visuals and telling stories with photos
Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and carry a project from idea to execution
To apply, send a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Instead of a cover letter, send a brief message with links to relevant clips (two or three is plenty) and answers to these questions: 1.) What's the best parenting story you've seen on the Internet today, and why do you love it? 2.) What’s a product or trend every mom should know about?
We regret that we are unable to respond to each resume. Only those individuals selected for interviews will be contacted. CafeMedia is an equal opportunity employer.
