CafeMedia is seeking a driven and experienced VP, Product - Content Services to join our team! We empower over 2,000 premium publishers, with a collective reach of over 120MM monthly unique visitors (#16 largest comScore property), to make a living doing what they love – producing great content – while we manage the advertising for them. From food to home to news and technology and more, we represent the influential voices who make the internet a better place. As the largest exclusive publisher network, with direct access to code-on-page and underlying datasets, we have a unique capability to build innovative products that span across publishers, advertisers and consumers.
The VP, Product - Content Services, will be the first hire on a brand new team to build an innovative new platform to link our publishers’ sites together more tightly and give them economies of scale they can’t get on their own. Right now, each site has its own search, “save this content” and other features that could be scaled across sites. Additionally, features like content recommendation or shared email services can be built that will give users more reasons to stay on our publishers’ sites and help them share traffic in a fair and equitable way.
These features will not only help our publishers grow their traffic and increase the value of their brands, but will create a new source of “owned” traffic and decrease their reliance on the platforms. Additionally, we’ll connect these new services into the shared identity system we are building to increase users’ value for advertisers.
We’re looking for a talented product leader who understands the digital media ecosystem and is passionate about building never-been-done-before systems. This person will function as a key leader within this business, helping set strategy across the board. As the first team member, you will help hire the entire team and define the product roadmap.
Overall Role & Responsibilities
Build and lead a rapidly-growing team of product managers, engineers and others to launch and manage our content services platform
Set the product strategy and plan to deploy massively distributed content services across 2000+ sites
Focus initially on products for our largest vertical - Food - and then scale the offerings out to other content verticals where appropriate
Build a system that leverages our customer relationships to get drive traffic and other value across our network of publisher sites
Work closely with our publisher teams to build a marketing and communications plan to roll these services out to publishers
Work with our marketing team to develop a universal brand that consumers and publishers accept and value
10+ years in product management at a digital media firm or similar
5+ years of management experience
Deep knowledge of web technology, advertising technology and related fields
Insight into and passion for the content of some of our key content verticals like food, home, travel, parenting, personal finance, etc.
Proven track record of developing and launching successful enterprise software products
Full command of the product development life-cycle, from market analysis to problem identification, validation, solution development, go-to-market and beyond
Strong analytical and prioritization skills and experience applying them in the development of a product roadmap
Excellent client-facing communication skills including product presentation as well as gathering feedback
Expertise in agile software development methodologies and collaboration with engineering to execute a product strategy
Experienced manager, leader and builder of teams
Bachelor’s degree required, A technical degree is preferred
