Director, Customer Insights

CafeMedia is seeking a creative and analytical Director of Customer Insights to join our team! We empower over 2,000 premium publishers, with a collective reach of over 120MM monthly unique visitors (#18 on comScore top 50 list),  to make a living doing what they love – producing great content – while we manage the advertising for them. From food to home to news and technology and more, we represent the influential voices who make the internet a better place. As the largest publisher network, we have access to some of the most fascinating and valuable datasets across the entire digital media landscape.

Your mission is to use our significant datasets to find valuable insights and recommendations to help our publishers grow their businesses. Via datasets spanning content insights, SEO and other traffic sources, site performance, revenue analytics and more, the Publishing Insights Director will produce content that will provide deep value to our publishers.  The content will be distributed via newsletter, blog posts, video, in-person meetings, infographics and more.  The ideal person for this role will help us develop our overall insights content strategy as well as producing the content itself.

This role is perfect for a right and left-brained thinker who loves numbers and finding the story behind them. The ideal candidate has a passion for digging deep to craft compelling narratives using a variety of research techniques along with a talent for articulating those insights into easily digestible content. You have a never-ending curiosity for answering interesting questions and coming up with the best solutions.

Overall Role & Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and synthesize content consumption behaviors, traffic data, revenue analytics as well as primary research data sources to uncover persuasive insights
  • Create compelling stories that bring deep, practical, and actionable insights to our publishers
  • Lead the development of custom research studies we can use to provide even deeper value to publishers – from survey design to analysis of results to packaging insights
  • Help shape our overall content marketing strategy across all lines of our business. Manage and create all ongoing insights-based content across all channels
  • Liaise with data intelligence and engineering teams to gather data and transform into usable forms
  • Work with our advertiser insights team to build insights that support our advertisers and publishers simultaneously
  • Work closely with our communications teams to create content and fit into our larger communications and marketing strategy

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in consulting, marketing, research/insights, or digital media
  • Interest and background in digital media, SEO, web performance, consumer content analytics and market trends
  • Passion for client service and always going above and beyond for our customers
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret patterns across multiple data sources and translate into insights stories
  • Experience with survey writing and analysis
  • Experience with Google Analytics and SQL
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail
  • Preferably experience with SEO and web performance tools and trends
  • Team player with ability to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment
  • BA/BS degree required
